Turquoise has been worn for quite some time, with Egyptian kings wearing it in the 5000s BC and beads found in Mesopotamia, and it has been believed to bring happiness to people.The stone, brought to Europe through Türkiye, means "Turkish stone" in French.

These stones are produced in arid deserts and highlands where rain is not present, and the vivid blue is the influence of the copper that is contained. If the amount of iron is high, it will turn green.
