Demantoid garnets are said to be "diamond" because of their strong brilliance, and the Dutch word "Demant" was derived, and it was named "Demantoid" in 1878.
The color is made from chrome, and gives it a rich and vibrant green. It is known as a beautiful, shining garnet because it has the highest refractive index and dispersion of the Garnet Group.
