Tsavorite is a type of glosschler garnet, and is a garnet with a particularly vibrant and dark color that is among the green glosschler garnets. The deep, clear green is made from a slightly contained vanadium. This garnet was mined in Tsavo National Park in Kenya in 1968. The name comes from the fact that Tiffany Co., Ltd. honors the land and named the stone Tsavorite. This is a rare and rare garnet, with small production volumes and rarely large crystals found.
