Lapis lazuli, which has been used as a jewelry since before the BC, was transported to Japan through the Silk Road and has become popular under the name lazuli. "Gunjo," which means a vivid blue color, refers to rock paint using this stone. In Western paintings, Vermeer blue, which uses lapis lazuli, is famous. 

The indigo blue of the lapis lazuli, which has a heavy feel that does not allow light to pass through, resembles the depth of a moonless night sky. What's slightly different from the evening darkness is that some stones have inclusions that sparkle like stars.
