Turquoise has been worn since ancient times, worn by Egyptian kings in the 5000s BC, and beads have been found in Mesopotamia. It is a stone that is believed to bring happiness to people. It is mined in dry deserts and highlands where there is no rain.

The vivid blue color is due to the copper contained within the stone. If there is a large amount of iron, the color will turn green.
